The Independence Heritage Museum is an example of life in Independence from 1850 to 1950. There are areas depicting medical technology, everyday living, a photo history of the hops industry, names and businesses in Independence, high school class pictures, and a late 19th century schoolroom. There is a blacksmith shop, covered wagon, parlor, bedroom, kitchen, library and a room with war memorabilia from the Spanish American war through Desert Storm. Archives are available for research.
