Founded in 1948 to preserve and interpret Rock County history, the Rock County Historical Society is Rock County’s premier resource for historical research, thought-provoking programming, and one-of-a-kind historic sites. Composed of six historic sites, five of which are currently located on a 3.25 acre site in Janesville, Wisconsin, the RCHS is the gateway for all to discover Rock County’ s rich past.

Visitors to the Lincoln-Tallman Restorations, Janesville’s award-winning historic house museum, can tour five levels. From basement to cupola of this Italian villa style mansion. More than 75% of the furnishings are original, including the bed Abraham Lincoln slept in while a guest of the Tallman family. Guided tours are offered year round and the adjoining Helen Jeffris Wood Museum Center features hanging exhibits and educational programming.
