The Sullivan County Historical Society was formed on September 18, 1886. Its mission was to preserve the history of Sullivan County for the benefit of future generations.

To fulfill this goal, the Society is dedicated to the acquisition and preservation of historical records, documents and artifacts pertaining to county history.

The Historical Societys archives contain valuable resources to aid researchers who are investigating both family and county history.

Exhibits: Sullivan Countys history; The Country Store; The Lawrence H. Cooke Room; and the Frederick A. Cooke Room.
