The Erlander Home Museum, one of Rockford’s historic landmarks, houses the collection of the Swedish Historical Society. The museum is located at 404 South Third Street, in the heart of the Historic Haight Village.

This home, built in 1871 for the John Erlander family, is a classic example of 19th century Italianate architecture. It was the first brick home built for a Swedish family in early Rockford.

The Swedish Historical Society is organized exclusively for historical, educational, and charitable purposes. In harmony with this purpose is the operation of the Erlander Home Museum and the preservation of Swedish-American history and culture of Rockford through such activities as the conservation of artifacts, museum displays and educational programs.
