Colonel John Black spared no expense when he built Woodlawn, an elegant Federal house on a 180-acre estate in Ellsworth. Built between 1824-27, the house contains original furnishings that reflect the privileged lifestyle of three generations of the Black family. Period artifacts fill the home. Not only an historic house, Woodlawn has beautiful formal gardens, two miles of hiking trails, and 17 acres of open fields making it Ellsworth’s public park.
